Morphology
Epiphyllum oxypetalum Haw. (DC.) is also known
as Bunga Wijayakusuma. This plant
is a flowering plant and has a typical fragrance. The flowers of this plant are white or slightly
yellowish with diameter 10 cm up to 15 cm. The stem is cylindric, can reach 80 up to 150 cm. The leaves can reach 13 up to 15 cm long. The leaf surface has a smooth texture, the leaf
margins has indentations which serve as a place for the new shoots grow. The flowers are nocturnal or only bloom at night

Distribution
& Habitat
Epiphyllum oxypetalum is a plant originally from Mexico. This plant is a family of cacti
that can survive in the tropical, hot and dry area (Lim, 2014).
Potential
This plant contains
oxidative in the form of alkaloid, triterpenoid, and saponin compounds that are
able to prevent free radicals and toxins in the body to prevent chronic
diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and diabetes (Artini & Aryasa,
2018).
Usability
This plant is used as an ornamental plant. In
addition, it has good benefits for health, ifor example: its flowers can be
used as medicine to cure tuberculosis (TB) and respiratory disorders such as
asthma, and minimize the blood clots (Artini & Aryasa, 2018).
